Overview

Food Talks explored how to use augmented reality (AR) to link a food product with its nutritional and environmental data. Current food labels are often misunderstood and environmental information is rarely included. Through this design research project, Emily aimed to create a credible connection between intangible digital data and a physical object. The first part of the project engaged supermarket customers with a standalone AR device showing environmental facts. The second part brought together personalisation, nutritional and environmental information with a mobile AR application. Testing with real people throughout the process allowed her to form visual and interaction principles for AR.
